Duke ABSN Honors

This week was extremely special. I was surprised to find out I had been nominated for the Ruby L. Wilson Award for Excellence in Clinical Nursing. I am proud to say I was nominated by my professors due to my performance in clinicals ~someone is always watching whether you realize it or not! I received a fancy award, scholarship money, and most importantly the privilege of an afternoon with Dean Broome, my professors & Dr. Ruby Wilson herself! A true Living Legend as deemed by the American Academy of Nursing, you can read about her many accomplishments here. Nursing is such an amazing profession and I am always amazed by the many strong and empowering women (+men) I have gotten to meet. So inspiring! Here we are in front of the portrait of Dean Wilson herself!

Later this week, I also was inducted into the Sigma Theta Tau International Society of Nursing Honors! It was awesome to have my family come to celebrate with me, I couldn’t have pulled if off without them so I am happy we could all celebrate together!

To qualify, students have to maintain a 3.5 GPA or higher in their nursing studies, at Duke you are notified of your acceptance via email at the midpoint of 4th semester.

I am so proud of my friends & all of our hard work!

It is such an honor to be recognized, end of the year celebrations + pre graduation festivities are the best!
The light at the end of the tunnel!

This week was just the boost I needed to buck up and study for the NCLEX

Almost there! Thank you for loving me through school!
